Dance Photographer in Connecticut
Photography for performances, rehearsals, and movement-based work across New Haven and Connecticut.
Dance photography is about timing, trust, and attention. I work with dancers, choreographers, and arts organizations to document movement in a way that respects the work being made and the people making it.
My approach is unobtrusive and responsive, focused on capturing performances, rehearsals, and behind-the-scenes moments as they unfold. Whether photographing a full production, an in-process rehearsal, or a quiet moment offstage, the goal is always to create images that feel true to the movement, the space, and the intention behind the work.
I photograph dance across a range of settings, from theaters and studios to schools and community spaces, often collaborating with artistic directors, production teams, and communications staff. The emphasis is on clarity, presence, and images that can support promotion, archives, grants, and long-term documentation.
I regularly photograph:
Live performances, including premieres, repertory programs, and staged productions.
Rehearsals and in-process work, documenting movement, collaboration, and development.
Dance portraits of performers, choreographers, and artistic teams for promotional use.
Workshops, masterclasses, and educational programs centered on movement and instruction.
Festivals, showcases, and community dance events.
Behind-the-scenes moments that reflect process, preparation, and atmosphere.
Images created for promotion, archives, grants, and long-term documentation.
I also work with dance programs connected to educational institutions, nonprofit arts organizations, and corporate events where performance and movement are part of a broader program or initiative.
Dance photography requires sensitivity to both performance and process. The work often exists for a moment and then disappears, making thoughtful documentation especially important.
My aim is to create photographs that honor the physicality, emotion, and discipline of dance, while remaining useful for promotion, archives, education, and reflection.
If you’re looking for photography that understands movement and works quietly alongside it, I’d be glad to talk about your project.
